Quiet Reflections
I stood alone on the lonely deck
Beneath the strings of coloured lights
As my ship cruised steadily on
I paced its deck on quiet nights.
I could sense the pulsing of its heart
I could feel its strength and might
I could feel its friendless weight
Moving surely with eyeless sight.
Cutting through the silent waters
Soft waves splashing on its side
This giant monster was really huge
It was long and tall and wide.
Yet there was a certain beauty
In eighteen thousand tons of steel
Gliding along without a care
So I relaxed so I could feel.
On these many moonless nights
Sometimes a star above as friend
I let my thoughts to wander
Reflections that never end.
Quietly, intensely, silently
I let myself be slowly drawn
To where I knew for sure
All dreams and fantasies are born.
They were all inside my mind,
All my feelings old and new
I often kept them all alone
And I often thought of you.
