The Poker Players

Five cards in their hands they did hold,
In the middle of the table
was their challenging pool of gold,
All four players were capable,
And none of them wanted to fold.

The first player then showed his hand,
He laid down two pairs and a king,
The second player had threes and
a red jack and also a queen,
Strong enough cards but not so grand.

The third player laid down a straight,
Which was two, three, four, five and six,
He had gotten the last card late,
But luckily managed to fix,
So all his cards were up to date.

The fourth player, with eyes aglow,
Then opened the cards in his hand,
He gave the cards a loving blow,
So the others could understand,
He had a flush of hearts to show.
