The Amusement Park
A simple joy which I often had,
During the time when I was a lad,
Was to to go to the amusement park,
Which opened when the day got dark,
And I would be thrilled for many nights,
With all the coloured amusement lights.
Many games and children's rides I found,
Like ferris wheel and merry-go-round,
Electronic bears to shoot to kill,
Dodgem cars
to drive and crash at will;
There was sometimes a magic show,
With magic acts both fast and slow.
And action movies were never free,
I had to buy a ticket to see,
So towards the end of school weekdays,
Like on Saturdays and most Sundays,
After my school homework had been done,
I went to the amusement park for fun.
During the time when I was a lad,

Which opened when the day got dark,
And I would be thrilled for many nights,
With all the coloured amusement lights.
